After graduating university in Boston in 2008, in the midst of the largest financial crisis the world had seen since the 1930s, I was completely lost on what to do next. The job market was in shambles. I had lived my whole life between England and Chile, and at that point neither seemed like viable options to go back to.

After analysing all of my options, I came to the realization that China was growing at nearly 10% that year, while the rest of the world seemed to be contracting. I signed up to a 6-month language course and a couple of weeks later was on a flight to Shanghai.

After a few weeks of living in Shanghai I quickly realized I was exactly where I needed to be. It appeared to be the most dynamic place on earth, with endless opportunities. Soaking up the culture and meeting fascinating people from around the world.

It also became clear the difficulties of managing the murky waters of doing business in China, and all the problems that could arise. After meeting my business partner Justin, we came to the realization that we could offer a real benefit by bridging the gap between the West and we could help companies do business with China by simplifying the process.

So far, our journey has been amazing, working on fascinating projects, and traveling around the world meeting and creating bonds with exceptional people.

12 years ago, I arrived in Shanghai without a clear idea. I heard about China’s impressive economic growth and that was enough said for me.

I arrived in Shanghai with the idea of doing a three-month language course. After a few weeks of settling in it became clear to me the huge opportunity that laid before me of connecting people back home with the opportunities that China had to offer.

Having studied Business and communications and having lived in five different cities around the globe made my transition relatively smooth. Once I met my business partner with a similar background the mission became clear to us, we would act as a connector to companies and people who wanted to import from China, offering a western service, while limiting their risk, and obtaining all the benefits of doing business with China.

I must say I can’t be more grateful. Looking back to over 200 projects that we have been involved in, developing expertise in numerous industries, working with cultures all over the world and most importantly meeting extraordinary people along the way.
